My dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.       ---1 Cor. 15:58 NLT

Baby Joy, Josiah, and Pastor Beki"Happy Birthday Joy!"
On June 10th, Joy celebrated her first birthday.

It was like every other day for her... a miracle!
Joy was starting to sit up, and babble.  Very big accomplishments for a little girl no one expected to live only four months prior!

Joy is now being cared for at Eban House (Children's Home) in Ghana, where she is waiting for her adoptive family.  It was very hard to leave her, but we have heard good reports of her continued growth.

Pastor Larry Teaching at Eban House Children's Home Outreach
For Joy's birthday, we came to visit her at Eban House, and donate practical supplies including sandals and toothpaste for the children.

Larry was able to teach the children from the Bible.  He shared about the Father in Heaven who loves them, and will never leave them.
Larry also taught them about Jesus' house name, Yeshua (Hebrew for "Yahweh who is Salvation").  The children quickly understood as Ghanaians have a "house name" used by their family and neighbors in their language, and use a separate English name for legal purposes.
Pastor Beki giving the Love of Yeshua
The day ended as Beki got to hand out gift bags to the 30 children at Eban House, and left items for the staff to share.  It was a great day, giving to the special people now caring for Joy.

McConnell Family Homecoming at Dulles Airport

Soon after saying goodbye to Joy, we said goodbye to our friends and home in Ghana.

Coming home on furlough, we have had an exciting summer visiting with our families and readjusting to the US.

Living near the equator for over two years without air conditioning had certainly changed us.  Compared to Ghana, Virginia is cold even in summer.  We still sleep in winter pajamas under a quilt and blankets - in August!

Thank You ! !

Thank you for giving us the privilege of serving our Father in Ghana.

As fall approaches we look forward to meeting with our partners and friends, especially those in the South!
Shalom in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Christ),  Larry and Beki's Signature
